The consequences of the services have demonstrated the huge impact (EU) legislation can have on municipal business processes and ICT infrastructure. It is evident that, as practically all business processes are supported by information and communication technology, any new legislation has a certain impact on the business processes of government, especially those government bodies that execute legislation, such as municipalities. New legislation leads to changes in their business processes, their organisation, information management and information systems. Thus, municipalities have a special interest in Information Impact Assessments.

I think it is important to call upon the European institutions to take this into account and to develop an information impact assessment.
